This morning we gathered at Bowness Park for one of momstown's signature events, Picassos in the Park. For those who aren't familiar with the idea, Picassos in the Park is an opportunity for kids to simply enjoy the experience of creating art, with no worries about what should be produced, or how messy anyone might get in the process. We encourage moms and kids to come dressed in clothes they don't mind getting dirty, or to bring paint smocks, and then we set out the paper, paint, brushes, and other tools, and just let the kids explore. There is no right or wrong way to do things - the point is to just dive in and let the artist inside out.
Dive in we most certainly did!
.
We didn't stick to paint brushes either. There was bubble wrap, and lids to make prints with, and cars to drive through the paint and onto the paper:
Even the babies got in on the action, some making their very first masterpieces:
While our works of art dried, we visited the ducks at the lagoon, and of course made a trip to the playground:
The park is beautiful, but I'm not sure there is anything more lovely to look at then art that has been freely and joyfully created by children:
Join us any time for crafts, stories, art, and sometimes some much needed socializing and support too.
what a great day!
