Each month, we are fortunate to have use of the party space at Enchanted Events to hold our Art and Play event. Art and Play, one of momstown's flagship events, is a time when we can get together to celebrate our monthly curriculum theme, recognize birthdays and important events in the lives of our members, create crafts, and of course to socialize and play.
In April, we learned all about baby animals, and we were all set for a Monday morning of baby animal fun, including learning the chicken dance, reviewing the bunny hop (which we practiced at our Easter party), and making all kinds of animal noises. One look at the weather forecast lead to a change of plans. With a predicted high of 26 degrees, it was apparent that a change of plans was in order. At the last minute, we decided to move the party outdoors to Riley Park.
We crawled, climbed, swung, and teeter tottered to our hearts' content while we enjoyed the summer like weather:
After a busy morning of active play, it was time for stories, snacks, and art on blankets in the shade. In keeping with our "baby animals" theme, we decorated miniature birdhouses. The original plan had been to paint them, but markers and stickers turned out to be an excellent alternative for our impromptu "plein air" picassos session:
You are never to young to experience art:
It can require a lot of concentration to execute your creative vision:
Fortunately, snacking on the job is encouraged in this group:
If you can't find food to snack on, a marker can be a pretty decent substitute:
And the end result of all of that hard work is definitely worth it!
This picture says it all:
It was indeed a morning filled with sun, sand and smiles, and I cannot wait for many more like it this summer. Be sure to sign up and join us on our next adventure. There is something on the calendar every weekday (and lots of weekends too).
