Baby Picasso's Father's Day Craft

One of momstown's core programs is Baby Basics.  Designed for moms and their babies aged 0 to 12 months, this program runs weekly and alternates between a discussion week and a Baby Picassos week.  Discussion weeks are led by an expert and cover relevant topics like nutrition, diapering, sleep and signing. Baby Picassos is a short art session for mom and baby to create a keepsake craft.

At Baby Basics today at Stir Crazy, our momstown Calgary mamas helped their adorable Baby Picassos create a Father's Day card called: "Dad, Hands Down You're the Best!"

We used cardstock, tempura paints, paint brushes, Sharpies and of course Huggies Wipes to clean up the mess.

Did you know that if you mix a bit of dish soap in the paint it makes clean up a bit easier?

Once we all had a little visit we started painting hands.
Some or our little friends did not like
the idea of unleashing their inner Picasso!

But with a little coaxing they did it!
Once a hand was painted, we gently pressed it onto the cardstock to make a hand print. Our littlest babies gave us the added challenge of trying to open their tiny fists.  But when we started painting, they were all smiles at the feeling of the paint brush tickling their hands.

When the paint was dry, our mamas used the Sharpies to write the Father's Day greeting.  Each card turned out different and only two of our babes painted themselves!

After the craft, our moms sat and chatted and got to know each other better. An amazing group of moms!

We hope you can join us next time.
