Fall is the perfect time for apples!
And this fall, our momstown Junior Chefs added a sweet spin to this yummy fruit:
Chocolate-Covered Candy Apples!
We used some delicious Macintosh Applies straight from an orchard in BC. After the apples were washed and completely dried, the stems were removed and they were ready dipping!
With a stick pushed in through the top, the kids (and their moms) dipped their apples in some melted milk chocolate. You could also use dark chocolate, white chocolate or you could add some flavouring like vanilla or maple extract or even some raspberry flavouring!
With a generous layer of chocolate, the next step was to dip our apples in some yummy candy toppings!
We used colourful sprinkles, mini-marshmallows, skor bits and smarties to top our apples.
Some of these toppings never made it to the apples!
After they were finished, the kids showed of their culinary creations and then moved to the final step:
Eating them!!
We are already looking forward to November's Junior Chef on November 16th!
